My Past

by K. Kylyra Ameringer

I keep my past

In a big red book

Hidden in my room

To take out

Look at

And cry over, as needed

The good times are there

Smiles and celebrations

No heartaches or

Sour grapes, please

I keep those pinned

To my soul;

It keeps them fresh

And maybe I should

Burn the book

Start anew

Birth at thirty-six?

I can't erase

The people tattooed

On my eyes

Without losing my face

I've grown accustomed to my life

To the funny clown capering

Madly in my brain

So I'll keep my red book

My past

On the shelf

And let the clown do his thing
