the World of NON (or Dark World video)

a brief history of the Ennui Entertainment series

J.A.Bohr learned in 1994 that the Milwaukee cable channel 14/47 had to give some of it editing suite and air-time to the local community. J.A.B. applied, completed the required courses and in that spring began working on videos to be aired on cable. The series was titled Ennui Entertainment Presents and produced two seasons.

The First season contains eleven half-hour long (actually 18-25 minutes) episodes; Images of Northern Germany, Enter the Arena, Infinisynth-Subnormal Episodes pt. 1, Dark World-Carnival, Dark World-Into the Dark Continuum, and Infinisynth-Gestatten Sie, dass ich Deutschland vorstelle! parts 1-6. They aired and replayed on different times and days due to programming space.

The Second season contains fifteen hour long (actually 35-50 minutes) episodes; Songs From Valhalla, Black Orchid-In a Heartbeat, Diese Politik ist ein Chaos, Infinisynth-Subnormal Episodes pt. 2, Wilkommen zu Ihren dunklen Verlangen- Finster und Duester, Into the Mouth of Chaos, Welcome to the Dawn, to the Light, to the Mourning After, Immer nur bumm,bumm,bumm,..., Into Past Nightmares, Environment, Space, and Surf, Black Orchid-Traveling on Dark Frequencies - Live, Infinisynt-Great Mother, Into the Unknown, and Infinisynth-Germania Saga parts 1 & 2. They aired and replayed on Friday evenings at 23:00 with two new episodes appearing each month due to J.A.B. gaining a contracted slot.

Ennui Entertainment Presents cemented the cult following begun by The Dark World. With sketches removed, the episodes were an abstract Mtv featuring the music of Infinisynth and Black Orchid (when listed) or Improvs recorded by J.A.B. featuring everything from private and open sessions recorded in Providence House to live performances from the Milwaukee and Greater Chicago areas. The improvs featured over a dozen of musicians joining J.A.B. in sessions of the most experimental electronic recordings. The visuals were multi-layed blends of footage, edited in specific timing patterns.

The series explored the 'Don'ts' of video production, creating unique images meant to induce feelings and ideas without a plot or characters. Infinisynth-Subnormal Episodes pt. 1, Welcome to the Dawn,..., Black Orchid-In a Heartbeat, and Infinisynth-Germania Saga are highlights and Cult favorites of the series.

Germania Saga is a 94 minute surreal audio/visual journey using NON-style video to tell the story of Ara, a Viking warrior who has become disenchanted with the world. Divided into six segments, the story follows Ara's internal perception as he journeys through life, death, and the hereafter in search of his family hamingja. It is still one of the most complicated works Jeffrey has every done. Featuring the music of Infinisynth this video ended the series. Songs from this episode appear on the Infinisynth releases 'default' and 'reload'.
