NOORDERSLAG SEMINARS
You'll find record labels, promoters, booking agents, artists, distributors, agents, venues, festival & party organizers, and media representatives from print, radio, and television in Groningen's premiere convention hall, the Oosterport. At least twenty-four hundred attendants participate in more than one hundred panels and meetings over three days to discuss and network for the international and Dutch music industry, focused towards European music, touring, festivals, the live music industry and media developments. Some of the meetings are for members only, and the panels are clearly marked in the schedule as being in either Dutch or English. Each year one European country is focused on, and you'll find special guest speakers along with several key panels discussing some of the ins and outs of doing business in that country.
NOORDERSLAG WEEKEND
Noorderslag boasts it has been the main gauge of the state of affairs in Dutch music since its inception. On the last evening of the three day event, the Oosterport opens its doors and hosts over forty of the best Dutch acts performing on nine stages. Don't be put off by the fact they advertise it as Dutch pop music; their line-up includes the very best Dutch hiphop, urban, pop, avant garde, dance, alternative, metal, rock, and everything in between.
ATTENDING NOORDERSLAG WEEKEND
If you're planning on attending Noorderslag weekend, here's some tips for you:
1. Buy your tickets early. Early bird prices have a nice discount compared to last minute ticket sales, and the event sells out every year.
2. Arrange accommodations as early as possible. Hotels in the city centre fill up very quickly. Noorderslag organisers will send you a list of hotels in the city, but by the time you get it they might all be filled.
3. Groningen does not have an airport, so you'll need to fly in somewhere else and then make your way to the city. Flying into Schipol airport in Amsterdam makes things easy; you can catch a train straight into Groningen right there. The train trip from Schipol airport to Groningen takes approximately two hours.
