"Find something to eat?" Dick asked sourly.

"Oh, yes," Tronaugh replied, her eyes never leaving the screen, "we managed to scrounge something."

Dick crossed the room to the kitchenette and opened the refrigerator door. "You ate my spaghetti," he said, looking in.

"What?" Tronaugh raised her voice over the noise of the program.

He turned to look at her. "My Spaghetti. You ate it. I was going to eat that tonight."

"I know," she replied, her eyes still glued to the screen.

"I know," he mimicked back to her sarcastically. "Did you also know I had to be at work today? My alarm didn't go off this morning. Did you turn it off?"

"I?" Tronaugh asked with indignation "I did no such thing. You forgot to set your alarm."

"I never forget to set my alarm -"

"Never is a long time to come and has yet to pass us by here," Tronaugh replied tartly. "You forgot to set your alarm."

"Yeah ... well ..." Dick hesitated. Did he forget to set the alarm? "If you two hadn't been making all that racket ... it's your fault, anyway."

"DT was the noisy one. Besides, we were quiet after you told us to be," Tronaugh protested.

"Oh, you were quiet, alright. What was with the staring all night long?"

"Staring?" Tronaugh asked innocently.

"You know what I'm talking about," Dick said, shaking his finger at her. "Every time I rolled over I saw your beady little eyes staring at me. They glow in the dark, you know."

"Oh, yes, we know that," Tronaugh replied happily. "So the staring was a bit much, hmm?"

"Yes! A bit much," Dick said, biting off the words.

"And it bothered you a bit, hmm?"

"Yes! It was quiet irritating!"

"And how many times did you almost get sacked today?"

Dick felt the blood rush to his face. "I ..." he choked on the words, "I did not almost get sacked today!"

"Oh, now, that's not quite true, is it? You know what they say about liars! Liar, liar, pants on fire! Liar, liar, pants on fire!" She began to chant away and DT picked up the rhythm and capered around, gurgling loudly.

"Shut up!" Dick yelled at them. The two stopped abruptly. Mr. Henson began banging on the wall again. Tronaugh and DT's eyes flicked in unison to look at the wall, then the telly, then back to Dick. "Alright! Fine! So I didn't do so good today at work!"

Tronaugh nodded her head knowingly. "Twice you were reprimanded at work. And you had the phone call this morning, didn't you?" Dick looked at her sullenly. "Three reprimands in one day. I'd say your job is on thin ice. And," she added with a smile, "you barked at that girl you like in the mail room, effectively killing any chance of ever approaching her in the future." She leaned back into the couch with a sigh. "A good day's work. You know, Dick, my advice to you young people is get a job that you like. Really enjoy. So at the end of the day you're happy with your results and that's all the reward you ever need."

"You. Did. All. That?" Dick ground out between his teeth.

"Well, yes! And ... no." She frowned, causing her face to pucker up in a thousand wrinkles. "We loosened the knot in a long thread on the hem of your pants. The thread unraveled, dragged to the ground, where you of your own free will tripped over it and fell headlong into a sewer!"

"What are you talking about?"
