History continued
In 2009, Kylyra organised and hosted Poets Express, an evening of live performance poetry from adults. Included in the night was a special celebration for Kids Express, a poetry contest for school aged children. The event was a huge success, with an appreciative audience and performers from around Ireland and the UK.
The first year of Poets Express was followed in 2010 by a two night event in July. Kids Express had its own night, and featured young performers from around Ireland and the UK. Poets Express was held separately, and featured three rooms with poetry, video, and live music. The night was capped off with a special performance by Shaky Dawg, a country techno cross over band that featured Kylyra on backing vocals. In addition to hosting and performing both nights, Kylyra also had a crew on hand to record both audio and video of every performance. Kylyra successfully pitched a poetry-based video series to An Lár TV, an internet streaming television station in Dublin, who snapped the project up. By the time 2010 ended, Kylyra had finished editing on seven half hour video programmes for An Lár and released close to 100 individual videos on YouTube.
Having worked herself close to serious illness, Kylyra took a leave of absence in 2011 from live performing and her work with Express Events. This, of course, didn't mean Kylyra wasn't working. Recordings with Shaky Dawg continued, and Kylyra's long awaited DJ set under the project name TechnoKy was finally recorded in the studio.
Present Projects
Kylyra, though currently quiet on the internet, has been as busy as she ever was. With final productions for her techno project, TechnoKy, done by both J.A. Bohr and DJ Doctor When, much of her time is being spent listening to the fully finished tracks and planning for both iTunes and physical CD releases. Her work with Shaky Dawg continues in the studio, both rehearsing and recording final tracks for the band's upcoming full length release. In addition, Kylyra's been rehearsing and playing live in West Cork with Null 'n' Void, a three piece cover band formed with KarrArikh Tor and Spike.
Kylyra has also been preparing for the release of her first full length novel, The Demon of Petty Disturbances: Doh-da. Based on her original short story available at Dark World in The Written Word, The Demon of Petty Disturbances: Doh-da is scheduled to be available by mid 2012. (The Demon of Petty Disturbances: Doh-da is available now from CreateSpace. Click on 'Shop' to find online dealers.)
